The K2 Sky Pilot 2026 is developed with Sage Kotsenburg and built for riders who want precision control in natural terrain, particularly in deep snow, pillows and technical tree lines. The design team worked directly with Sage to create a board that pivots easily, releases cleanly and responds instantly to variable backcountry features. The result is a directional tool with a wider footprint, a refined medium flex and the ability to stay playful while remaining stable at speed.
The Sky Pilot uses a directional shape with Volume Shift, which allows riders to downsize three to five centimeters without losing float or edge hold. This shorter running length translates into fast edge to edge transitions and improved manoeuvrability in tight spaces. K2 shapes the tip and tail with a 3D contour that lifts the contact points away from the snow. This creates the loose, surf inspired “pivotability” Sage requested, reducing hang ups and enhancing control in soft snow.
Under the hood, the Sky Pilot carries an S1 Core engineered for durability and consistent energy transfer. The addition of the Carbon Y Beam focuses longitudinal strength into the tail and spreads energy forward into the contact points of the nose. This increases snap when exiting turns and improves stability without forcing unwanted torsional stiffness. Triax fiberglass complements the ride quality with predictable flex and damp response.
A Wax Infused Sintered 4001 base delivers dependable glide and longevity. The board’s finish is stone ground for consistent speed across mixed snow textures. Bio Resin is used throughout construction to reduce environmental impact while maintaining structural performance.
Built as an all gender platform, the Sky Pilot offers scaled sizing and tuned waist widths that support riders with smaller boots without compromising on effective edge. Available from 148 through 163, it fits a broad range of riders who want a freeride driven board that remains intuitive in diverse terrain.
